Let Us Never Forget, But Be Transformed

It has been 50 years since Dr. Martin Luther King’s famous 1963 “I Have A Dream” speech. Marches and celebrations of the anniversary started over the weekend and culminated today when President Barack Obama commemorated the occasion, standing in the same spot at the Lincoln Memorial, from where Dr. King delivered his words on 8/28/63. Churches and groups were asked to ring their bells at 3:00pm EST, marking the exact time Dr. King spoke.

Above is a track I have loved forever. Drummer Max Roach underscoring King’s speech.  The duet of two legends.  Breathtaking.

And below is a track of mine, recorded many years ago, a photo tribute to those who have fought for, and championed, the rights, freedoms, and protection of others.  A hero’s parade.

Let us never forget, but be transformed.  Do not leave this earth a parent, without having imparted this history to your children.
